    That is Johnny boy's stache.

Also, you do realize that the next few games are to have Manziel prove he can lead the team? Yeah, I will be happy when Manziel wins and shows that the team can have some stability at a position that has plagued the team for years.

But don't let me stand in the way of your fit, Sally.

You mean when we gave Crow a whopping 16 carries combined?

    Compare ypc then. Same difference.

Yeah that never increases with the carry count or anything....

Big Ben, Russell Wilson, Cam Newton, and Aaron Rogers are notorious for running outside of the pocket and finding receivers.

And what percentage, exactly, ARE from outside of the pocket for those?

    10%.

Scrambling cannot be the only useful part of a QB's game.

Manziel still isn't a competent QB.

Oh it can be.............. for a game or two. Those QBs that rely on that as a major part of their game all have one thing in common - the "ex" - in front of 'ex-NFL Starting QB'.

Like it did today when we had to wait for Crow's 4th carry to see his first 50-yarder?

You really don't want to claim our run game has been nail we have just refused to hammer, do you?

So are you arguing chunk gains are not more common later in the game?

  • Manziel's energy says zero about the accuracy&precision with which he goes through his progressions.

His desire to "get something done" leaves INT's like today's even when he should have enough pride to not try to "force" something that isn't needed.

Hey, the "bad" int he just didn't get enough velocity on the ball to get it done. The receiver was initially open.

    @unsympathetic said:

The point is that the reason he has to extend the play is that he is incapable of going through progressions the way the play was designed.

Every time he runs around in the pocket, instead of saying "that's nifty" you should be asking "How many open Browns routes did he not recognize correctly, and why is he showing his back to his receivers"

How many times, when they showed the wide field, JFF had to run around because absolutely no one was open?

    @opal312 said:

All we get is the Red Zone! They didn't show anything! I wanted to know how the running game came to life today after disappearing all season?

A great mystery of life. Actual holes suddenly appeared. O-line was getting positive push. Now if that was because the 49ers sucked, I suppose we'll find out next week if that was a mirage.

If you can make that case, it'd help your argument, I guess. I'll wait...

  • I've been saying it all year... Manziel is the catalyst for our team. He's magic.

  • He's young and remembers how to be a winner. Positive energy rubs off on other players. They play with more intensity. Wish we would have played him all year. The games might have been closer and more fun to watch. Isn't that why Haslam drafted him? To fill up the stadium. Pettine wasted the year away while playing "Good Cop Bad Cop" let him play. No one ever got better on the bench.

Thought it was pretty common knowledge. "getting into a groove" and all that.

    now THAT is priceless.

i don't think even the 'haters' (like myself) hate manziel. i just want him to prove to me, the media and to the world why he was worthy of our 1st round pick before he says he'll 'break the league (with his talent)' running around like a fool and doing the money sign as he gets run over by a linebacker.

wasn't able to see the game but met with a client where red zone was on and even THEY shied away from showing any manziel 'action'. i guess they've been burned too many times as well. but this club where i was at is notorious for being a 'legends' type sports club where their patrons know more about football than walter knows about sucking eggs. the first thing out of the old bartender's mouth seeing me walk in when the browns were already up by 7 was " johnny. the kids a millionaire. he needs rehab and a bodyguard. i'd tell my bodyguard to knock me out if went out and started to fuck up!" etc. etc. to which i said "maybe he should just stay home in his mansion and stay out of the spotlight"(which i've said from day one).

glad the browns won. maybe manziel IS the guy? who knows? but in sports i'll take young over old any day. showing improvement is another check on the list. but to say right this second that he is the franchise QB of the browns going forward is a stretch. BUT continue to show improvement against the tougher opponents and he WILL earn trust and respect from even his most hating of the haters.

but his performance wasn't the biggest thing to happen in our division yesterday.....

mccarron sucks bags. how can anyone (FO) trust anything that comes out of alabama anymore?

  • I'm not a big fan of JF, and I'm not a hater, either. I wasn't able to see the game, but heard some of it on the radio. Either the team has had a resurgance with Manziel in there or the 49ers are way much worse than I thought. I hope Manziel continues to play well, so we can draft someone other than a qb. It looks like he continues to improve, and I would have no problem with going 3 - 13, then keeping him in there as the starter, as long as he plays well in the last 3 games. The only thing that scares me, if that plays out....it's going to be a looong off season, with a lot of opportunities for JF to display his partying habits.

Oh, I don't know. CJ Mosely, Marcell Dareus, Eddie Lacy, TJ Yeldon, Rolando McClain, Mark Barron, James Carpenter, Jalston Fowler, Amari Cooper, Kareem Jackson, Mark Ingram, Julio Jones, Dre Kirkpatrick, Andre Smith, Courtney Upshaw, Chance Warmack? Far as I know they're all starting and range from average to elite. No one expected McCarron to be worth anything in the NFL, for the most part.

Sorry hater. Manziel looking damn good today.

Manziel has look good today but the next 3 games will be against possible playoff contenders and if last year taught the sunshine pumpers anything it should be you're not measured on how you play against bad teams when you are one

And we will see how it goes the next 3 weeks. Manziels ability to extend plays does bring a energy. Looks to me like the other players are trying to extend plays as well.

  • One thing I'd say is encouraging is at least we have a guy in Flip who can manage the QB position. For the band of misfit toys we've trotted out so far he's made them look pretty damn good. Let's hope the whole thing isn't a fluke and they finally found a run system that can sustain itself.

  • Before the game even started I turned to my father and said, "Ya know, there's a chance the team plays with more energy when Manziel is in the game. I've heard players say that he provides a spark and an element that can be measured. There's a definite excitement in the air when he's playing, and when he got benched, there was a feeling of air being let out of the balloon."

I didn't say anything that a lot of people didn't already know, but the game kind of verified it. I'm certainly not getting carried away, as whatever could go wrong for the 49's definitely did. They couldn't do anything right, and we capitalized on it. Now, we had a lot to DO with their ineptitude, and I don't want to take credit away from our boys, but the 49's played poorly.

The most impressive aspect of Manziel's performance Sunday to me was that he was PREPARED. Mangini didn't surprise him at all, and his zone-contain scheme failed. Johnny didn't rush, he didn't freak out, and he made the plays that were available. Was he perfect? Hell no, and we don't expect perfection. That interception was bush league, and he knew it. He had Benji directly in front of him for 10 yards, Barnidge down the seam (I didn't see him, but I read it) for a TD, and he also could've just thrown it away.

As well as Manziel and our running game performed today, I think it's our defense that gets the MVP. We actually got consistent pressure, and we even got it with a 3 or 4 man rush sometimes. Hot damn! Several rookies got in on the action, and the Nate Orchard 4th down sack was awesome.

We all know who we play during the next 3 games, and nobody expects similar results. However, I love how our team gave the fans one last entertaining game. Something to cheer about, and maybe a touch of hope.

  • Manziel has improved dramatically IN SPITE of daddy Pettine.

  • Looked to me like he would scrunch his body up at the end of every throw in anticipation of a hit. I assume that has an effect on follow through of the throw. Other than that, pretty nice performance.
