You believe it was Odin, because your viking priest tells you it was Odin. He knows it was Odin because Odin said he would do it, and Odin must be believed. Odin said so.

I never debated the existence of God with atheists/unbelievers before and I quickly saw before anyone else had even said anything I was using circular reasoning. I posted an article earlier that made a good case for the existence of God without using the bible but to make the case for a personal God I have to use the bible. I have to use "what the bible says". I can use archeology discoveries to prove the accuracy of bible stories such as the story about Jericho but I cannot explain a personal God without the cross and without what the bible says about salvation. If you are talking with someone who doesn't believe the bible it is an immediate stalemate.

This is not the article I was looking for but it is from a former atheist who became a believer in God:

    http://notashamedofthegospel.com/apologetics/proof-that-god-exists/

  • His argument really doesn't hold water. It all makes sense up until the end. Basically he says, nothing existed, then it did, so god must have done it. The reason it can't be something like the multiverse theory is that we don't have concrete evidence for it...

... ok... but where is the concrete evidence for god? You know, the thing he supposedly "proved".

You can't prove a god exists. You can show scenarios in which a god doesn't have to exist to be where we are today, but you can't prove god exists. Technically you can't prove god doesn't exist either. As we develop as a society there seems to be less and less of a need for a god though. Less things we need to explain with superstition.

  • well, woodygaypeckerhead, you can't prove mmgw is caused by burning fossil fuels.

Really, you can't prove mmgw exists, since there is plenty of evidence to the contrary.
