CBS reporting that we are completely out of the Kaepernick sweepstakes, but we're still "checking out" RG III. Nobody is reporting that a deal is "imminent", but it certainly looks good. I don't have a problem with starting McCown and having RG III backing him up. Hell, what is Hue can work some magic with Griffin? Would I bet on it? Heck no, but stranger things have happened. It's time to get lucky.

I'd far rather have RG III than Kap. And the moneyball guys will like him too if they negotiate a reasonable price WITHOUT losing any draft picks.

In two weeks Kaep won't cost a draft pick either...

We gotta spend money anyway. We probably have the lowest QB budget in the league. RG3 either shines, or he doesnt and no big loss.

Doesn't cost us a draft pick ... cheaper than Kap, and IMO a higher ceiling and better dude.

so we don't take a qb in the draft?...because if we grab rg3, there is no sense to draft a qb and have him sit on the bench...because mccown will be the backup...so that would put the drafted qb as 3rd string probably...do we really want to put everything on the line with an injury prone head case qb as our starter...i don't know about this....would make me quite nervous...

no shit....there are crazy folks on this board...the guy has a bum knee...i repeat, the guy has a BUM knee...

Two ACL repairs- the next one may be his last. I wonder if the Browns would be able to take a look at his medical records- before they make him an offer. If not, I'd bet the ranch Sashi's offer will be contingent on him passing a physical to the Brown's satisfaction. I'm hoping this is just more media smoke.

Like Ghoolie says, there are no old running quarterbacks in the NFL. IIRC Griffin flopped in his audition as a pocket passer. Hey Hue- you watch any tape the last time RG played?

We can still draft whoever we want.

We aren't making any decisions based on McCown. He's old and Hue is going reshape the position.

Griffin would be the presumed started on a short contract and we could easily still draft the QB we like best to develop without having to start him right away.

Another black Fran Tarkenton. Garbage QB, total garbage. If he comes to Cleveland I will root for him to get fucked up bad.

They will draft some more very important offensive linemen to block for him. You should love it.

  • Today on the radio they were interviewing some guy from Washington who is talking about why some of the guys on the team hated him besides his arrogant me first attitude. The offensive lineman dislike the guy because they say he held on to the ball forever.

Assumably coach Jackson likes a quick release. Maybe that can be learned.

Knees happen... but until RG3 I'd never seen a player dislocate his own ankle. If that's not a medical red flag, then I don't know what one is.

On the bright side he'd make McC look like Quick Draw McGraw.... which would suck since we released our leading BaBaLooey candidate.

  • My concern with RG3 is his frame. There is no doubt the guy is an athlete; runs, throws, seemed intelligent. I'll admit, I would have liked to have drafted him when he came out, just didn't want to give away everything.

But his frame and what might be an even weaker Oline has me seeing RG3 looking like the guy folded in half in Men in Black.

  • I don't know. If you can get RG3 for peanuts, and the plan is to draft one of those other guys and let them sit a year or two and keep McCown. I guess I would give it a whirl.

I will take 3 Super Bowl appearances....which is what Fran Tarkenton had....and I will take my chances on winning at least one of those. (though...I know, Tark won none)

  • I understand kicking the tires, but Kaep and RGIII are a NO in my book.

Not seein it. I know that the Browns gave up a lot of sacks, etc, but

that's because they didn't have dangerous wr's, so they could just

cover Benjamin on the fly, and double Barnidge...

and all out blitz and rush the qb, and the run. The qb can't beat the rush

if he has no one to throw to.

Fix the wr position. Forget the veteran fa qb thing. Draft Wentz.

yeah but suppose the qb we draft beats rg3 out in preseason but still sits on the bench...they way this league is now these kids coming out of college want to play and play right away...and some of them deserve to play right away...and i don't like the idea picking up a qb with multiple knee surgeries to begin with...you are 1 more injury away from retirement with this guy and with a new ol, it could happen the first game...draft the youngster and let him see what he can do...that is the way i'd go...

  • Regardless who I want as QB (I'm for Goff or Wentz), I like the fact that they haven't jumped out & made a desperation move to sign the 1st one who agreed to come for a visit. That's how the OLD Browns did business..."Oh, you showed up for the interview? You're hired!"

If nothing else, these guys aren't overreacting. They are weighing vets vs rookies & they'll decide when the time is right to make the choice(s).

As I said, I like the kids in the draft, but I'm just a Fan with no business dictating who we chose, so I'll certainly support the Pros decisions.

well put...i agree one hundred percent...maybe things will finally change here...

  • UPDATES, BUT CONSIDER THE SOURCE GUYS.......

Zombo's take is making a lot of sense now- RG doesn't cost a draft pick, and he's gonna be way cheaper that Kap. Lowball with incentives sounds right. Ghoolie has already weighed in with his opinion. My feeling- if Hue thinks he may use Pryor in a WildDawg role part time, it would mean we have 5-1\2 quarterbacks on the roster come OTAs assuming we sign Griffin, and draft either Goff or Wentz.

He was "writing a book". Likely one handed.....

  • I'm listening to the radio show, and what they're saying is that it appears our management and coaches are not high on McCown, and he might be let go. McCown either has no guaranteed money, or very little (they didn't know), and cutting him wouldn't hurt our team financially. Honestly, this is something I never even considered given that McCown did pretty well last year, and especially well when you consider the lack of offensive talent we had at WR.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think it's safe to say our OL will take a step backwards next year, and do you really want an old QB playing behind a leaky line? If you're McCown, do YOU really want to play that way? Our franchise is obviously making a pretty drastic "youth movement" right now, and given that philosophy, it kind of makes sense that McCown will be let go. What I see happening is us taking a QB at #2, AND signing RG III. I believe Hue Jackson will want the rookie to start, with RG III backing him up.
