Sorry that I am smarter than you and trained to do that sort of thing.. I can't help it.

On the other hand, often I simply point out facts that other people don't like....and they think that is arguing.

The speculation has been that the Browns are not enamored of these QBs.

The speculation has been that these QBs are overrated.

Again, people only apparently want to hear information that substantiates their own opinions.

Well, again, sorry. If you all want sycophant type talk....perhaps a Steeler Board is a place you will find happiness.

Here is the fact gentlemen: Mr. Hue Jackson and this FO may in fact believe that they have their #2 overall franchise QB.....in one Robert Griffin III. I think it is highly possible that Jackson likes him...and wants him to be this teams future QB. He is only 26. Just entering what would be the prime of his career. He has shown that he can play very well in the right situation....and IF he can stay healthy.

RG III right here right now in the minds of our Browns FO may be a better prospect to be a franchise QB for this team than any of the higher rated QBs coming out of this draft. So, do NOT be surprised if any of the following occur:

    1. The Browns do NOT take a QB at #2.....but take another position player.

    2. The Browns trade down....and bypass the QBs altogether and pick someone else with their trade down.

    3. That the Browns do work some kind of deal....either trade down or trade up, to take a QB in the mid to late 1st round, like a Lynch.

    4. That the Brown feel that they can get just as good a QB in the second round at #32. Can you say Derek Carr, Teddy Twatwater, Andy Dalton. Or in this case: Connor Cook, possibly Hackenberg, Prescott.

    5. That the Browns skip that even and continue with RG and even McCown/Shaw/Davis, plus take a mid to late round QB. Cardale, Brisset.

Bottom line....these guys may think they HAVE their QB. And whatever you and I think about it is meaningless.

Hey short attention span, you remember the Browns already asked Griffin if he was OK with the Browns drafting another QB - and I assume high?

    @diehardbrownsfan said:

You're out of you fucking mind. No one who knows football would think RGIII is our future QB.

Unless you want to believe in the power of hypnosis. We have a potential starting QB that's as fragile as Sam Bradford, and supposedly can't decipher an NFL defense worth a damn. I said it elsewhere, if Hue got a hard on watching RG III tossing passes in a T-shirt, he's a poor choice as a QB guru.

    what a bunch of maroons.

One step above Mel Kiper's draft prognostications.

No, I don't remember hearing that, and I am not privy to the Browns communications with their players. 😳

So? Now you are the first in line of the "Fire Hue" parade?

One step above Mel Kiper's draft prognostications.

  • Gip-NFL HQ on NFL Network agree with you this morning. Pointing out that you don't actively shop the pick if you already know you are taking a QB there. Sushi is actively shopping it around.

Adam Schefter Says Browns Aren't Going QB at No. 2, and Are Taking the Highest Bidder for a Trade

Schefter caught everyone off guard with his response about Cleveland having decided already that they are not thinking quarterback at No. 2, but instead are selling that quarterback to the highest bidder. Here is a transcript on what he said about the Browns:
"Even before this trade was being made, I was of the understanding that Cleveland was not going quarterback. That was my firm and distinct impression and intel. Now if that is accurate, and I believe it is, then I think this trade is a good thing for Cleveland. Now, Cleveland is sitting in that second hole. If any other team wants a quarterback, and there are teams who want that other quarterback, they have to come to Cleveland, and Cleveland gets to name that price.
To me, I think the trade added to Cleveland's leverage because I don't think they intended to take a quarterback. They as an organization have new people, a new approach, a new perspective, and they have so many holes to fill. I don't think their perspective was, 'let's get a quarterback to play with all these holes and get his confidence trampled on right out of the box.' They've got RGIII, they feel good about RGIII, there's a connection between Hue Jackson and RGIII. The goal is to build all of the pieces on the team and then go get a quarterback."

Or you could shop to see if there is a price that could pry your preferred QB out of your hands should he fall to you...

I love the dead-fish stares he gets on NFL Insiders when he goes on and on about something, spouting old info like it was new. Bill Polian is the best dead fish of all...

Not sure how much speculation there is that the QB's are overrated. I've heard a lot of good things about both of the top 2 QBs. I still wouldn't be shocked if we trade out of #2 and even if we don't, I wouldn't be shocked at all if we don't draft a QB.

Well, I have been over this. Different reports have said that half the NFL GMs think that neither QB is top of the draft quality.

Other prognosticators had early on said the same as well.

And with this I am only reporting what I hear, yet some don't like it and think I have made this shit up. I haven't.

But I have no doubt that these QBs will be drafted high. QBs are at a premium, and just the chance to get one will make team perhaps overreach.

And my position is: if we do get one of them, then I hope he is the second coming of Otto Graham.

  • well if rg3 shits the bed (which he will sooner or later) and we didn't draft a top tier QB this year (wentz or goff and that's where that line is drawn) hue jackson will look like the biggest bafoon outside of adam schefter. god knows haslam is a patient man and jackson has all the time in the world to build a contender.

As I see it, we would probably be no worse off. We missed on David Carr/Joey Harrington/Christian Ponder/Jamarcus Russell/Blaine Gabbert/Jake Locker/Vince Young/Mark Sanchez/....and we can miss on these guys too. There are a few more we should have missed on as well......JMZ/Weeden/Quinn.

  • yep and next year's draft is chock full of franchise guys.

Fair point I guess....take a look at the 2017 QBs. (these I think are all seniors....apparently no junior eligibles listed:

Chad Kelly QB 1 Ole Miss Jr 6-2 215

    C.J. Beathard QB 2 Iowa rJr 6-2 209

Joshua Dobbs QB 3 Tennessee Jr 6-3 212

    Seth Russellinjury.gif QB 4 Baylor rJr 6-2 220

Mitch Leidner QB 5 Minnesota rJr 6-4 236

Jeremy Johnson QB 6 Auburn Jr 6-5 240

Gunner Kiel QB 7 Cincinnati rJr 6-4 208

Nick Mullens QB 8 Southern Mississippi Jr 6-1 196

Baker Mayfield QB 9 Oklahoma rJr 6-0 209

Brady Gustafson QB 10 Montana rJr 6-6 235

    Tyler O'Connor QB 11 Michigan State rJr 6-3 222

    Thomas Sirkinjury.gif QB 12 Duke rJr 6-3 215

Wes Lunt QB 13 Illinois rJr 6-4 225

Cooper Rush QB 14 Central Michigan rJr 6-3 220

Dakota Prukop QB 15 Oregon rJr 6-1 200

    Trevor Knight QB 16 Texas A&M rJr 6-1 207

Patrick Towles QB 17 Boston College rJr 6-4 240

    Sefo Liufauinjury.gif QB 18 Colorado Jr 6-3 240

Greyson Lambert QB 19 Georgia rJr 6-4 220

Matt Johns QB 20 Virginia rJr 6-5 210

  • Here is something that would not break my heart: If the Browns never drafted a QB.......if they got their QBs always from the "Secondary market". Veteran free agents.....or trades for a QB.

As I documented some weeks ago, nearly half of all the Super Bowl QBs did not play in that game with the QB that drafted them, so maybe the Browns should go with that philosophy.

I guess this approach is a result of being gun shy after all the bad choices they have made at that positions the last 20+ years.

(and yes, you can go back to Eric Zeier).

Otto Graham was not drafted by the Browns. Frank Ryan was not drafted by the Browns. Bill Nelsen was not drafted by the Browns. Brian Sipe was a 13th round pick....would have been a UDFA this day and age. Kosar was a supplemental pick. Vinny Testaverde was not drafted by the Browns.

Some of our half ass decent post 1999 QBs were not drafted by the Browns: Kelly Holcomb, Derek Anderson, Campbell, Hoyer, McCown.

Picking up a QB with high draft picks has been torture for Browns fans. Getting semi-proven young veterans would not be the worst modus operandi.

Yea....make Ghoolie happy. At least the Browns have had some success drafting OL. The last 4 we have taken in the first round before Erving were: Alex Mack, Joe Thomas, Jeff Faine, Steve Everitt. All good to outstanding players.

    So? WTF...Draft Tunsil?

  • well if it's not a QB and you are doing a total rebuild then yes, tunsil. the first building block of every football team.

  • Don't forget we still pay some guy named McCown - and he's better than both EFG and SomeDraftableRookie. Pasztor is a good swing guard - not a starter, those should be Greco/Bito. Greco played C for a few games and stunk royally. We can get a RT in round3 and be just fine.

I hope we don't trade down even though we need picks. The QB needs 2,3 yrs to learn.. next year should be the trade down..

True, but circumstantial... the key factor was McQuistan back-filled for Greco... or rather took up space at RG.

I'm not saying we don't need a quarterback, but we shouldn't take one this year. None of these guys have confirmed talent, and if we do take one of them, he won't have the team around him to succeed. We have two at least competent guys under center for now, we need to take the BPA so that when we do take a quarterback in the coming years, he doesn't get absolutely fucking mauled

you have to understand (guessing you haven't been a browns fan for very long) that haslam isn't a patient guy. sure he might say he is when he spouts his bullshit when hiring a brand new staff after canning the previous one that he said he'd be patient with......that hue and staff better show something other than having a good season because of a soft schedule or they too will be out on their asses that they might want to address the most important position on the team early on in their careers here.

and drafting a QB at 22 or beyond just doesn't cut it.

i.e. paxton lynch is a bum.

  • well, the Browns COULD wait for oh, ten years or so, until the

top qb they could get, with the #1 pick, could fly like Superman,

do cool tricks with Batweapons, swim like Aquaman, and swing

from goalpost to goatpost with a spider web jobbie...

or maybe we didn't have the top pick, and had to settle for a

qb with an iron suit that gives him super "IT" powers....

I'd rather get the right qb, and I think that is Wentz if they don't trade down.

    http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/peyton-manning-defied-some-predictions-b99190928z1-241988471.html

Back in spring 1998, there was uneasiness among NFL personnel people about not only if Manning ever would become more than just a solid starter but also if he were even the No. 1 quarterback in the draft.

It seems crazy now, but paranoia once ran deep in scouting circles when it came to quarterbacks, and for good reason.

In the 10 drafts before Manning of Tennessee was taken with the first overall choice one slot ahead of Washington State's Ryan Leaf, eight of the 14 quarterbacks selected in the first round turned out to be busts.

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2050587-looking-back-at-nfl-draft-profiles-from-back-in-the-day/page/2

"Hell, yes, Manning's good, but his ball waffles all the time," the scout said. "I didn't like his ball velocity, either."

  • You draft the kid who is brilliant, very strong arm, extremely competitive,

excellent leadership, very, very athletic, who LOVES the game, thrives on

the challenge, throws a very nice ball....

his skills have it over Peyton Manning. Goff's profile sounds like Peyton Manning

    a bit.

Wentz and Goff are far superior picks than Marriotta, and what's his name.. oh yeah, Winston.

and the last two went first and second overall.

I'm fine with a nice trade down extra picks biz, but if Wentz is there - you DRAFT him ("cough" or Goff, whoever

    he is off the field....)
