Andy Lee Traded to Panthers

It's not about the punter or the punter kicking 80 frickin yards or him not trying to make a tackle....it's about the flippant attitude of throwing out the only talent (which is sad i know) when there is absolutely none besides 2 guys that are on their down side of their career.
I'll tell u this, if brown and depoesta don't turn this around in 2 years every friggin person who believes in analytics will be burning those papers.

Not me. Some of us know it will take longer than that.

I don't believe the lack of effort has anything to do with this either. This is a good deal no matter how you slice it (unless our team was currently loaded).

maybe so but if that's the case you'll see a new set of coaches on the sideline.
guarantee it.

Not buying any FO/Hue friction.
Des Bryant? Seem to remember his injury dictating Ogbah's move to DE...
If Horton and Co. burned any bridges, left themselves with limited OLB options, that's on them. It's not as if Krug's poor play snuck up on them overnite.
As for Lee... fits the pattern. On field impact may materialize... Standings impact will be nil...
Messages being sent right and left.
Main one I am seeing is that our latest "players' coach" is more of a myway/highway dick...

So, if he's in the loop, he would know Kruger was in line for the first cut....right?
And, this is a fluid process....so they've certainly been grading players all along....not just this week, right?
And the Coach, KNOWING Kruger was gonna get cut and Ogbah would be the OLB, decides to start Kruger all 3 games and play Ogbah at DE only?....with no reps at OLB, even though he is the projected starter?......no reps at OLB during camp either?
Pffft....
So, Ill make it simple.....either he's not in the loop, which is terrible.....OR......he is in the loop and they are just completely stupid and clueless...
There. Understand?
OR, just a CRAZY option B here, they gave the veteran the benefit of the doubt to prove himself in the preseason and let him work to earn his roster spot. When he sucked major ass they cut him. Why would that be stupid and clueless? Literally a blow-up doll would be as effective as Kruger was for a long time. Not having a true replacement isn't some big deal-it's part of the process.
I swear, some of you guys should start making those conspiracy videos on Youtube.

Ive explained it 3 times...very clearly.....and you keep missing the whole point....Dont care if Kruger was cut. In fact, I wanted him cut. I care about how they are handling Ogbah and I care that, as you said, Kruger has sucked for a long time. They KNEW he sucked, they had the tape, they've had 4 weeks of camp and 3 games to grade him....and suddenly, he goes from starter to cut.... yet, having all this knowledge, they did not prepare Ogbah for the change. Now, with preseason and camp over, they 'suddenly" decide Ogbah should be moved(again) because they realize they dont have anyone to play the position. Ok?...explained AGAIN.....
Its the moving of Ogbah twice and their lack for forsight with the Kruger cut that bothers me....
Listen....I get whats happening....I understand why.....BUT, also have a right to be critical of moves I dont like and, just because Im critical, doesnt mean I dont get the "why" of it all....just dont like the path or choices so far.....
Look....I been listening to you whine non stop since Ive been here, so I get my moment in the shade too ....ya know?
Not buying any FO/Hue friction.
Des Bryant? Seem to remember his injury dictating Ogbah's move to DE...
Right....Des goes down and they move Ogbah. I was with that 100%. Now Kruger leaves and it's suddenly critical to move Ogbah again?.....My question is why did they wait till this week to notice that?....again....my view...poor or lack of anticipation(or communication)....
If Horton and Co. burned any bridges, left themselves with limited OLB options, that's on them. It's not as if Krug's poor play snuck up on them overnite.
THAT is my whole point.....So, why act like it did???....because their actions suggest just that.....
As for Lee... fits the pattern. On field impact may materialize... Standings impact will be nil...
I have no problem with the Lee trade....
Main one I am seeing is that our latest "players' coach" is more of a myway/highway dick...
lol... from Terry Pluto's column:
14. How about this? The Browns received a fourth-round pick for their punter. But the best they could do for Barkevious Mingo was a fifth-rounder from New England. Mingo was the No. 6 pick in the 2013 draft. I expect Patriots coach Bill Belichick will find a role for Mingo. The Boston Globe said it will be on special teams and as a "spot rusher."
I guess we all know what Kruger is worth on the trade market...eh?.....less than Mingo, less than a punter.....nuff said....

Grossi seems to agree with you. He was saying today that he doesn't believe it had anything to do with the lazy tackle effort, but instead the opportunity to turn a player who cost a 7th round pick and another 7th round pick into a replacement punter and a 4th round pick. Considering Andy Lee was punting the ball down the oppositions throat last season and the team went 3-13, I don't see the downside here.
Exactly... we won 3 games with future hall of famer and all world punter Andy Lee on the roster. There's no downside to this. Who fucking cares...its a punter for christs sake.

You're right- I don't care anymore.Oh, I'll still go to and watch the games, but I sure as hell am not expecting any wins.
IMHO you can currently count the number of Browns players that would start for a playoff caliber team on your fingers- maybe on one hand.

I still think this team will win more than last years team and I'm hopeful to be building in the right direction. I'm certainly not going to get all worked up about trading a punter for another punter and a 4th round pick.

Besides we can now put two punters back there and have one punt while the other fakes a run. New version of the pea under the shells game that confuses everyone. Browns FO explain it here.

Kruger was a solid player, but he was getting up there, why the heck would you cut
a new, young player that has more skills, more powerful a rusher?
and Lee... terrific punter. How is it that he doesn't win games by himself?
Oh yeah, it's a team game, and the Browns are building a team. That failure to even
try to cover a punt just said a lot. Bring in another punter, get a 4th round pick,
and continue building a TEAM, where everybody is on the same page, and the best talent
takes the field. How else can they finally build a WINNING FOOTBALL TEAM here in Cleveland
if they don't start doing stuff, making hard choices, bringing in more, better, hungrier,
faster, etc talent?
I also see the Browns winning more games than last season. It takes time to get so much
together.

Yeah he's a giant pussy for not laying out in a meaningless preseason game.
#ifurpunterhastomaketacklesurteamisshit
So why should they even wear pads if there is a an assertion that they should never have to make a tackle?

Running into the kicker is a big-time offense. I don't mean flattening him I mean a little tap that he can exaggerate into a fall to the ground.
Hue said that wasn't the reason if he can believe anything a coach or front office says but still...
And if I'm not mistaken kickers pads are a lot smaller than linebackers right?

To accommodate their frail frames. Yet still, they need to make an effort to prevent a touchdown.

So would you eliminate the running into the kicker penalty? Quarterbacks get knocked on their ass after the pass all the time.To accommodate their frail frames. Yet still, they need to make an effort to prevent a touchdown.
And if preseason is that important shouldn't the first team be in a lot more?

Do people understand that more wins than last year means a minimum of 4 wins?
If N.O or K.C sign Krug before game 1 they pay his old 1 year salary due? or After game 1,it's a new deal? There is a sucker born everyday..Tick Tock
Vested vets (like Krugs) who are released during the trading period (which we are in) are instant FAs with no contract attached to them.
Unvested players, players with fewer than four years accrued service, go through waivers and their contract goes with them through the waiver process. Once they "clear" waivers, then they are contractless.
Vested vets released outside the trading period are subject to waivers.
Who, Belichick? Pretty much the exact opposite of a player's coach.
... and yet somehow his players love him... almost to a man...

Right, and I've explained 3 times now too that not having a guy in place by the third week in the preseason isn't some *gasp* moment either. They haven't even played a real snap yet, let's see how the young pups handle themselves when it matters before jumping off the ledge.
I get it man, but this was the plan all along. Think of it this way-at least you'll be keeping the local bar in business this year!
