    PFF summary isn't all bad

    1) Shon Coleman graded out as our #1 player, shutting down Dunlap.

    2) Ogbah does know what it's like to do more than wear the jersey.. 1 sack, 1 hurry, 3 run stops.

    3) Kindred has 8 runstops and an 11.3 runstop percentage, both leading all safeties in the NFL.  It appears we have a SS.

    4) JT leads the NFL in passpro % at tackle, giving up 3 sacks in 68 attempts.

    5) Ogunjobi was overall the #5 Brown and is the 10th rated run stop DT in all the league.

Consider this stat as the one to use when comparing WR's.. complex but at least it's consistent.

    6) Zane Gonzalez leads the league in lowest % of kickoffs returned.. 2 after safeties and one after a Coleman TD where he pooched it.

Seriously guy- we got blown out by a mediocre team- at home. It's the closest I've ever come to walking out on a game early- it was a joke, a total embarrassment.

But Larry................. you said the Bengals suck? You said that their OL would cause the offense to sputter. You said the Browns new OL was going to make the offense potent. You said Hue Jackson will not be in the hot seat and that he is a really good coach. You said Greg Williams defense woudl be thunderous.

Phhhhhhhhht to yohur OL cowpoop. Fatasses, every last one of them.

  • The bengals were a mediocre team? Uhhh no......they suck. The ravens and steelers are mediocre. The bengals are shiite.....i really thought it would be a close game even if the bengals won. I thought perhaps the jets and chargers would be winnable games, they're not. I watched rivers today torch the eagles secondary on some deep balls and im like nope, rivers is gonna murder us. They wont be the browns lone win this year. Jets i dont know much about but im gonna say we lose next week too if the bengals dropped 31 on us.

seasons over. The only thing thats gonna piss me off about this season is if they retain most of these players. The rookies, fine...ofc they get another year. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th year guys that ate just plodding mediocrity.....house got to be cleared at the end of the year. They dont do that, i wont watch next year. If nassib, orchard and ogbah...just as one example....if they're all still on the team next year im not watching if by years end their play is exactly as it is now. Shelton, meder...same.

Actually we have two SSs and no FS, but the other one plays CF.

It was positively putrid Russ. Horrible bad.

Hmmmm just maybe I'll head up again- wasn't planning on it though.

You rang? FWIW I don't think that much of Dunlap, Shon handled him.

Apparently McCourty and Taylor are alternating weeks of good play.

And FG... smiel-goal... that call on the lateral cost us a spirit raising scoop and score. That throw was the very defintion of "lateral".

Finally got around to watching the tape Tour. Not only was that clearly a lateral (replay showed the ball didn't go one inch forward) the crack officiating crew blew a couple other calls. Was wondering why everyone was screaming "face mask" on the Bungle TD right before the half. Didn't see it- until I saw the replay. If you still have the tape, take a look. Downfield, one of our guys about has his helmet ripped off. Add in, (the announcers noted it) they missed a delay of game on Cinci big gain.  🙁

And when that clock ran out I was wondering why we didn't throw the red flag. Did we have one left to throw? And what was the official doing that is in charge of watching for that? League should fine him.

Feature article at PFF on Shon Coleman

    • Offensive tackle Shon Coleman was one of the few bright spots Sunday in the Cleveland Browns 31-7 loss against the Cincinnati Bengals. He finished the game with an overall grade of 86.3, the highest grade among all Browns’ players and the third-highest among all tackles in Week 4.
    • With a tough matchup against the 29th-rated edge defender Carlos Dunlap, Coleman held his own, allowing three total pressures (all hurries) on 47 pass snaps. He has not allowed a sack since Week 1.
    • Continually showing improvement, Coleman currently grades 18th among 68 qualifying tackles, with an overall grade of 76.4. His run-block grade of 81.5 currently ranks 18th as well.

    I am feeling a father's pride...

If anyone still has full PFF access, I'd appreciate a note on where Schwartz lines up in the 68. I know last year he posted an 80.9 grade for the season.

right on H, The women ref that blew the Skins Duke fumble blew this call by being out of position..Doubt 21-7 would have made any difference. but even with the whistle being blown..The possible TD return was dead due to whistle?..Now that pylon cam is possible, I got no clue why the down marker stick does not have a camera for LOS plays..The word "conclusive" in the rule book..Forgot the **'s with conclusive camera angle only..or it has no chance

  • Mack, however, is back at the top of the center rankings. Highest grade of all OL.

he possible TD return was dead due to whistle?

Yup... ball should have been ours at the spot of the recovery.

You are hearing more and more about officials not making close calls/ blowing whistles in change of possession situations so replay can sort it out. Of course that only works where replays are conclusive and can either "confirm" or "change" the (non)ruling on the field. Letting either a bad call or non-call "stand" is always going to be unsatisfying, but the percentages say that is a significant minority of replay rulings. Camera coverage is pretty damn complete for every game these days.

Gracias... Mitchell looked pretty good the plays where I focused on him Monday nite, but not so much in the opener vs. the Pats.

Not terribly surprising is it... but unless Julio and Sanu get back in the games PDQ that's going to change. Ryan was holding the ball longer vs. the Bills.
