Barkley’s comparison is Barry.Fu-cking. Sanders. They are on acid.

I don't agree on that. I repeat: I think the QBs from this draft were so hyped last year, that they didn't live up to the hype. But NOBODY does.
If they are %100 right on their grades, they would still be way better QBs than any of the ones the Browns had since '99 (maybe Derek Anderson would have a 5 grade?). Say what you want, but not having a major hole in the QB position is HUGE.
I don't want to upgrade my rushing game from solid to stellar if we don't upgrade first our QB position from very bad to at least acceptable. And make no mistake, this draft is the way to upgrade the QB position, there's no savior coming from the FA or a trade.
I kind of had reservations all season, the emphasis kept shifting from quarterback to quarterback with no real clear #1, 2 maybe 3 remember when JT Barrett was considered a possible top 3 or 5 QB? I just don't think it's a stellar bunch -but- if the BROWNS don't land a starting quarterback they will be almost forced into spending their #1 or 4 or who knows some kind of a deal to land a QB plus another pick.
Then what a rookie and Kizer running the show.

Still a little early but Darnold might end up in a BROWNS jersey afterall.

J.T. Barrett, in no universe known to man, has ever been considered a top 3 to 5 NFL prospect. That's just silly mjp.
Skipping QB again would be idiotic.

I'm talking about during all of the Buckeyes games when the Bucks and moreover JT was setting every BIG TEN record in existence some by HUGE margins including breaking all of the once considered untouchable Drew Brees passing numbers.
Some of it of course was being a starter so long plus he was the captain more than any other Buckeye EVER.
BESIDES I LIKED IT!

........oh and skipping the wasted QB pick at #1 or 4 would only happen if they did NOT sign a starter, not looking too promising now. Looks like the rookie & Kiz show in 2018.

Thanks. Now please refresh our memories on what the grades mean. And if you have it....how those grades could compare to other draft classes.
If I recall....a certain grade means that the evaluators feel that a guy could be Hall of Fame talent......other grades mean that a guy could be all star talent.....immediate starter.....backup...etc.
I tried to click on what I thought was a link to the grading system...but it did not work.
Here ya go...
GRADE TITLE
9.00-10 Once-in-lifetime player
8.00-9.00 Perennial All-Pro
7.50-7.99 Future All-Pro
7.00-7.49 Pro Bowl to All-Pro Ability
6.50-6.99 Good NFL Starter with Pro Bowl Potential
6.00-6.49 Chance to become good NFL starter
5.70-5.99 Could become early NFL starter
5.30-5.69 Backup or eventual starter
5.15-5.29 Developmental prospect or special teams potential
5.01-5.14 Back end of the roster
5.00- 50/50 Chance of making the roster
PS Garrett was graded 7.63, Kizer 5.78, Po will be upset Barkley isn't at least 9.0

AH-HA just as I thought even Darnold barely breaks the 7.0 mark in this so-so quarterback class, PLEASE sign some decent offseason FA QB and pick some stud first round players Barkley + __________ . (or two defense? OL + defense? )
Yes I know it's an early report card but just do it right.......baby!
.......edit add, the more I look at this class, the top candidates:
7.00-7.49 Pro Bowl to All-Pro Ability (1 barely )
6.00-6.49 Chance to become good NFL starter (3 barely)
It would be a crime to blow two top 4 picks on any of them.
GO BROWNS 2019!

How do these QBs compare to last year's top group of QBs in grades.
I have said all along that I believe it is possible that last year may in fact have been the superior class of QBs. How do they compare?

Last year they made Bo Jackson as the comparison for Fournette..
Bo Jackson? Seriously?
I really liked Fornette and thought he would be a good pro, but I got to see Bo Jackson live against my Aggies in the Cotton Bowl. I have not seen anyone like that before or since. Fornette has his power and a 5th gear, but Jackson had some serious speed that on a couple of plays made our very fast defense look like they were swimming in molasses. Fornette had a 4.51 40 at the combine. Jackson says he had a 4.13 and refutes he ran 4.12 as others claim. Now that is just plain world class speed.

Bo knows how to play anything and at a high level, best all around athlete I've ever seen.
Strangly Bo and I had/have the same/similar hip problem his through trama mine through infection the top of the femur.
Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head is a pathologic process that results from interruption of blood supply to the bone. AVN of the hip is poorly understood, but this process is the final common pathway of traumatic or nontraumatic factors that compromise the already precarious circulation of the femoral head. Femoral head ischemia results in the death of marrow and osteocytes and usually results in the collapse of the necrotic segment.
......That's where our physical comparisons end.

In person is what I was referring to, but yeah I'd give you Jim Brown.

Man what Jackson could have been without the leg injury!

So based on those grades. Darnold is the only QB really worth taking high in round 1.
what do I know. It says he has a significant long wind up - I never even noticed. That could account for the many fumbles.
If the Browns draft a qb at the top of the draft - it would be Darnold. I do like the kid. And he has the character to rally his teammates around him. Feisty - like Mayfield and Allen, but very accurate - and he seems the only one who could start quickly his rookie season if he had to.

If you watch tape, you cannot help but notice his wind up.
Fumbles? Yes, but also INTs. Longer motion = slower release = better jump by DBs.
So they should take this highest graded player, but Garrett was a horrible pick even though he was the highest graded player?
Makes perfect sense
Early post of the year candidate.

Always interesting to see the silliness that flows from NFL.com grades...
There is no telling at how these subjective "grades" are arrived. Certainly the comments do not always align with the grades. Here are the opening lines of two different QB prospects' Strength analyses...
- "Has desired NFL size."
- "... impeccable footwork and delivery balance."
I do not "get" how you start the higher ranked guy with a size comment. And the kicker? The "desired size" guy is 6'4 220. The other guy is 6'4 218.
Then there's the straight out inaccuracies. No one who watched Darnold's 2017 tape can say, "Trusts his pocket and keeps eyes down the field." At least they can't say it with a straight face.

Not sure Gip- but you can probably bet it was down in the 5s somewhere. They changed how they rate players a few years ago. Went from a 100 point scale to a 10 point scale. When I looked up Andrew Luck, they had him rated as a 97. Does that mean 9.7 on the current scale? If it does, it meant the scouts thought Andy could walk on water.
You have not seen anyone like Bo Jackson before or since.......but I have. Before anyway. Wanna take a guess who I am talking about. Remember how old I am.
And remember, Ag is older than you.
Did I see Jim Brown in person...no. Never went to a game when I was that young....but on TV many times...live.
Was lucky enough to see Jim play many times in person at the stadium. Grandpa held some purchasing power at TRW, and vendors used to schmooze him with Browns & Indians tickets. Plus the guy who lived across the street from him had season tickets, and would give them to us teenage kids when he had to work Sunday.

See my previous post. Darnold given a better grade than anyone last year....plus, based on the grade you posted, his 7.1 being far and away better than anyone else of this class.....you would think he would be a No Brainer.....almost Luckish. But...does anyone really see that in him? I don't. I will be honest...I didn't see a lot of him.....and the one time I did...he was getting ragdolled by the Ohio State defense. Maybe that is not a fair thing to judge him on...but it was the most exposure of him that I saw....and I did not see a No Brainer. At all.

Getting lazy, or just too busy to look it up? Trubisky 6.31, Watson 5.98, already said Kizer 5.78
Just was not sure I knew where to find it...but I did. See above.
