I’d hate to see football playoffs become like hockey. But two more playoff spots and a longer schedule are likely to happen, if not now then eventually, as they both mean more money.

Proposal: two playoff teams to be added this year -
Antonio Brown..off the rails.. -
Antonio Brown..off the rails..Rich beyond belief and yet throwing it away with both hands. No excuse.
The smart ones however are set for generations.
How true. He left a lot more money on the table than the rest of us will ever see.
I have the feeling I’ve seen this movie before, except that the main character seems to have been stopped before he did serious harm, and Ford stopped making the Bronco so they couldn’t do that part of it.

OBJ Continues to be OBJBad timing by one of the NFL biggest head cases.
Mostly a non story, though it was a knucklehead move. This will be forgotten in days. He’s strictly an amateur head case compared to AB, though. I don’t know why you seldom see weird shit from Centers or Punters, but so frequently from Wide Receivers.
-
OK, which one of you did this?I didn’t do it but I would have if I’d thought of it.
A few years back i DID try to sign up for that contest CBS Sports had, to have Coach Cowher come coach your team. It would not let me enter “Cleveland Browns” as the team. They must have got wise.....

Freddie firedA coordinator job is the traditional path to a head coaching position in the NFL. Unless we’re talking the Browns, in which case the head coaching job is a stepping stone to a coordinator position elsewhere.
-
Freddie firedI think Lou Saban would be a good fit. He coached everywhere, average gig about 2 years. That is a bit longer than the average Browns head coaching tenure but close enough. He also was a player under Paul Brown, which is always a plus.
Lou ruined the deal by dying about ten years ago, though.

Final playoff scenarioSo, it's over for the Browns.
But get this: The Steelers are in with a win and a TN loss (who's playing Houston who has something to play for as far as better seeding).
Not only this, but Baltimore has already announced they are sitting Jackson and some other key players.
There is no way in hell Pitt deserves to be a playoff team this season. But nor do the Browns. At the end of the day, it matters not; Pitt will not beat ANY team in the postseason.

Seems impossible at this point that Pgh could have even a theoretical chance at the playoffs, but there you go. Their offense is so bad right now I don’t see them beating even Baltimore’s JV squad.

The 'Who you watching?' 2020 thread. These are the prospects that are ranked between 10 and 20 by CBS for what that is worth. Anyone of interest?
10 Javon Kinlaw South Carolina Sr DL 1 6-6 310 11 A.J. Epenesa Iowa Jr EDGE 2 6-6 280 12 Henry Ruggs III Alabama Jr WR 3 6-0 190 13 Derrick Brown Auburn Sr DL 2 6-5 318 14 Kristian Fulton LSU Sr CB 2 6-0 200 15 Tristan Wirfs Iowa Jr OL 2 6-5 322 16 D'Andre Swift Georgia Jr RB 1 5-9 215 17 Kenneth Murray Oklahoma Jr LB 1 6-2 234 18 Tee Higgins Clemson Jr WR 4 6-4 215 19 Jedrick Wills Jr. Alabama Jr OL 3 6-5 320 20 Yetur Gross-Matos Penn St. Jr EDGE 3 6-5 264 D’Andre Swift has a name that begins with “De” (phonetically anyway) and has an unnecessary apostrophe. I say take him if you can. He is going to be good.
-
The 'Who you watching?' 2020 thread.Gip I think his name was Butler By’note’. Unfortunately he was just a journeyman d back, and By’note’ became a mere fo’otnote’. If he had but one more unnecessary apostrophe he might have become a star.
Guys with an Islamic sounding first name and the last name from one of the early Presidents are also potentially good draft picks. Mohammed Jackson, Khalid Van Buren, Jamal Jefferson.
-
The 'Who you watching?' 2020 thread.Pick a player whose first name begins with De or La, or has unnecessary apostrophes in their name. They seem to work out. Also an Anglo Saxonish last name. The more apostrophes the better. Like DeForest Kelley or something.

Browns at Steelers Official Gameday threadThis game was dreadful. Third string undrafted QB for Steelers, no Ben no Smith - Schitstorm, no Pouncey, people playing who I never heard of. We knew the Steelers defense was good but their offense seemed to get into a rhythm as the game went on. If you can’t take the Steelers now, then when?
-
WEEK 7 FINALE, MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, Miami (+ a lot) at Pittsburgh, might be interesting after all.Steelers reverted to form by not wrapping up a Miami receiver and practically helping him into the end zone. They were taken to the woodshed in the first half by the worst team in football. They did win, but it was ugly and they should have won anyway.
I will say that with the amount of talent they have lost in the last few years in various ways(Brown, Bell, James, Tuitt, Shazier, Roethlisberger), if they end up over .500 I’ll eat my hat and Tomlin is coach of the year. This would be the year to beat them, with their second and third string QBs playing. Will the Browns step up a notch or two?
-
The Legendary Otto GrahamYep, no one will ever touch that record of going to the championship every year he played. Many good QBs had as many or more INT than TD in that era, because the rules were different.
Ernie Davis was never drafted by the Browns, though.
-
RosenAnd they both drafted well to their needs.
Yep I think they did.
Did not think Pgh had the cojones to move up like that. It was a very unPittsburgh move, and I knew who they were going after, as Cin was likely going to take Bush to replace that Idjit Burfict, who is now a Raider. The WR they took will probably pan out, as they have uncanny success with WR in middle and later rounds. They took a CB, and most scouts had about ten CBs who were about equally good, and Pgh got one of them. People compare Pgh to the Kardashians but it’s not a good comparison. The Kardashians have a much better record of drafting and developing DBs than Pgh does, so this CB may not amount to much.
They took some OLB in a later round and I don’t know much abt him but if he is above average then Dupree is gone. He’s a semi bust at this point.
Balt needed WRs badly and got two decent ones, though Brown is awfully awfully scrawny. I mean like Dri Archer thin. Fast and has moves to get open, though.
Its not out of the realm of possibility that our division could be among the toughest in 2019.
-
RosenI'm pretty sure I heard him say, "fortunately my time here is coming to an end"...
Meant it, if he did not actually say it. Was probably going to be broken in two if he had to play much longer behind what might be a good junior college Oline, made up of has beens and never weres.
The video thanking the fans and welcoming his successor was actually pretty classy.

Great Football NamesI always thought Barkevious Mingo had the perfect name for the Dog Pound to love. I tried to start the rumor that he had a brother Nefarious and a sister Lascivious but it unfortunately didn’t catch on.

I hate Thanksgivingholidays in America period, are annoying as sht. The rest of the year people pretend like they're not aholes, during the holidays they stop pretending.
You got that right. Anyone remember ambulance trips and arrests over Beanie Babies or Cabbage Patch Dolls on Black Friday? No one admits to being involved in that now.
The holidays are stupid. Start it off by eating enough to go into a coma. Same songs over and over, plus we decorate the outside and bring a tree inside. The tree is the most flammable object in the house, and so what do we do? We wrap it in the cheapest wire made, so crappy that it doubles as a heater element, and then plug it in and go to sleep. That’s just plain messed up.

Could Bill Belichick Be Browns Coach in 2019?I theorize that Bellicheat could be motivated to come to Cleveland by these four things:
1) The weather (anything beats Boston)
2) The culture (best pierogies around)
3) A challenge (all that winning year after year is getting boring)
4) A secret deep yearning for Condi Rice, who is also coming......
