Notes: ~ Bitonio and Garrett are the highest graded players in the league for all positions on both offense and defense. ~ Antoine Winfield Jr. is the second highest graded safety. ~ Baker Mayfield is the lowest graded QB in the league with the minimum snaps required for ranking. He's 38th. ~ Chubb and Pocic are both ranked 2nd at their respective positions, while Njoku and Teller are both ranked 3rd. ~ Denzel Ward ranks 105th of 110 with a grade of 39.8. .

@mjp28 said: Yes.  Now he sold his mansion equipped with a bowling alley and more nice actually  because he's a family man with his kids. It still amazes me how much money he's got from the Steeler organization for playing football among the NFL highest  plus his other endorsements. Don't get me wrong I would do the same thing too in his position.  Big Ben a man of many faces from Findlay, Ohio.   What's next for Mr Steeler ? Yeah, Ben from Findlay Ohio being replace by Mitch from Mentor Ohio. That for some reason makes me uncomfortable. What I worry most about the Steelers is that I believe the QB play will be much improved.  Ben was utter trash least season. His passer rating was 86.8, 24th in the NFL His QBR was even worse at 26th, right behind Jared Goff.

@flugel said: How much cake is he making right now?  I'd hate to see the poor kid take a pay cut when he gets drafted.   I can't tell because the budgets for track which he does in the spring and football in the fall are hard to discern simultaneously. ?

@dutch-oven said: I have no doubt that Watson is somewhat to a significant upgrade over Baker. I have some serious questions how he deals with the late season home game weather.  Go over to Pro Football Reference (that I've been harping on), and compare Watson's career stats to Mayfield's. There's really no comparison.  Now the second part of your question regarding cold weather... I did a quick look at Watson's career games, and it sure looks like he's never had to play a game yet in what would be considered cold (less than 32 degree) weather.

@riffer-x said:Not a big money talking guy myself Gip, but it is very relevant when it comes to the oline, which is a huge strength of the team going forward. Nice thread Riff. The good news with the rookie salary cap is that guys like Bitonio and Erving aren't costing nearly what Schwartz, Mack and Thomas cost right out of college. Greco's early history of only 4 starts in his first 3 years in St Louis before the conditions of his trade kept us from starting him in his first year here - really make him a bang for the buck. All that weight he lost last off season led to the best football of his career. Then we have Seattle's former 7th round Tackle Bowie who doesn't sport a big contract either. All that gives us certain liberties moving forward if we need them. Along the same line (for our dline), Shelton's first contract is significantly less than Phil Taylor's. Meanwhile, Xavier Cooper will be making a fraction of what Des Bryant is getting in his FA contract. John Hughes and Billy Winn make mid-to-late round cake. I'm not sure what Starks will make; but he comes to us at an age where he's not a long term worry. We're looking good in the trenches. I never thought I'd say this but I'm kind of glad Josh Gordon's 2 brain cells aren't on speaking terms. When he came back last year - he destroyed some of the continuity and chemistry the guys stepping up had going here. We were 7-4 before he showed up looking lik ehe didn't know the playbook, his routes or his adjustments. I'm guessing we're very cap healthy today. We have a great leadership tandem of Farmer & Pettine.

Good to see you around Rif....cool story

A couple of notes: 1. You probably don't see many fans of other teams in northern Wisconsin because of it smallish population and because it is not a place, generally, where people relocate to. I hear you went there for the job, but I suspect that is rare. Its not like that is the south or west where a lot of people have moved there that have loyalty to a different team. Those locals are loyal to their team. 2. With the Packers history, you are not going to find too many FRAKs up there. Bandwagon jumpers for their rival team. The Packers have been the big dog in that vicinity. Their two closest rivals, the Bears and Vikings, have not been that successful, so unlike the complete asshole sniffing schlubs that we have around here, you don't have them there so much. 3 My wife is from Wisconsin, and we have a family friend that lives right on the river in Green Bay. (an ex teacher that is pushing 90 years old). My father in law, who is now 89 was a friend of Don Hutsons who owned a Cadillac dealership in Racine for years.

The Chicago Bears have proven time and time again that you do not need a huge name QB and a stack of highly paid finesse players to go to the playoffs. They pride themselves on Defense and Special Teams and get it done almost every year.

@miktoxic said:yeah, so who has been better in the post 'championship era? you are delirious. he was the smartest QB ever to play for the browns. he couldn't be a QB in this league full of maybe a handful of smart QBs? Clearly an indication of the bad weather and more and more, 'snow days'.

Girls in jerseys turn me on. Girls that don't know football and try to talk about it piss me off. Polamalu? Face of the Steelers more than anyone else. That's enough reason for me to dislike him. Dermontti Dawson jersey? That I wouldn't mind.

Very good analysis , and I agree with enough of it to say so .
