That excuse doesn't fly when you have a first year coach come from the college ranks and has 9 wins in Philly. I want immediate results not 5 year plans. I'm sick and tired of 5 year plans. Turnarounds can happen in one offseason.

Thats bullshit. The talent level and the state of the franchise has to be factored in. U really think if Philly hires Chud they have a 4 win season vise versa college boy comes to Cleveland we would be gearring up to win one more game to go to the playoffs? Ur an idiot if so.
Where teams can be turned around in one or two seasons. The Browns are not one of them sorrrrry. Problem has been NO ONE has gotten enough time because everyone expects a 10 or 11 win season in a coaches first season. I didn't agree with chud hire but the browns have made their bed and now have to sleep in it. Five years with chud minimum. No matter how bad it gets. Or else these guys are no different.
U cannot compare the eagles to the worst franchise in the history of football.

For every Chip Kelly there are there are plenty of HC who lose in their first year with a new team. Here are two:
Belichick: 5-11 with patriots.
Bill Parcells: 3-12-1 with giants as HC

I would kill for 5 wins

hey this staff might be the best thing since walsh and his crew but rememeber first impressions is what you remember most and comin out the gate these guys pulled up lame coming around the outside corner.
thought a genious or wizard could make a dummy smart given the time they had all season and prior to that.
guess that only happens in fairy tales.

Lets go with the here and now not 30 years ago. There are 7 first year coaches this year. Their records are 10-5, 9-6, 8-7, 8-7, 6-9, 4-11, 4-11. Tell the first 4 they are supposed to wait until year 5 to start winning.

Well I don't know about those other teams, but Cleveland isn't just a first-year HC, it's a new owner and FO, too. Having a decent QB helps, too. We can't pin it all on the coaches, winning and losing is a team effort.

stop being browns fans. Move to another team. I'm serious. This new breed of spoiled, entitled fantasy league degenerates are ruining sports as a whole...but especially in places like Cleveland where the foundation had been ripped out from underneath the team 15 or so years ago, these kinds of fans are making it impossible to build anything. Go away, I'm serious. I'm willing to put up with a couple years of mediocrity if it means building a foundation to a team like what the Steelers have. Just read an article about the Steelers young corp of LB'ers who didn't look promising at the beginning of the year but are starting to surge now. Why are the Steelers capable of developing players like that? These guys would have been bench riding the entire season and possibly not playing for us at all the next season. Yet the Steelers can get these guys up and running before the season is even over. This was the Steelers "retooling' year. Why can the retool like this on the fly without blowing up the entire franchise? Cause they are stable at the coaching and FO. So please all of you Browns fans who now want Chuds and Horton fired go away. Don't come to the boards and don't phone in on the radio. Just stop being browns fans completely.

The Steelers are capable of developing players because the coaches have been with the team for more than a year or two. One year under a new regime is not enough time to get everything the way that you want. Those players have played with each other for years and they only add pieces here and there. The Browns had a complete overhaul, it is going to take another year or two for the defense to truly come together. The only pieces we need on defense now are ILB and #2 CB. Our defense will be truly lethal soon enough. The offense will be going through their overhaul this offseason. We are looking at probably a new QB, RB, #2 WR and some new OL.
Depending on the QB play next year we could definitely we close to the .500 mark next year. If we just nail drafting a QB then everything else will fall into place.

anything less than 10 wins is unacceptable
-
i'll give the staff a little more slack and we HAVE to be at lest .500 next year. that's 4 more wins than we'll have this year. that's an improvement.
then 2015 if we ain't in the playoffs................

Absolutely no point in going forward with the current regime. Their entire draft was a bust. Their FA signings were a bust. They cut players that go on to have pro bowl seasons compared to what they kept on the roster. Our DC is a joke. We can't gain 2 yards when given 7 trys. Really? Someone please try to convince me as to why this group can win more that 4 games next year, cause I don't see it. And please don't use the continuity BS, the only continuity this group will bring is back to back 4 win seasons. Every free agent on this team is going to bolt for higher ground leaving even more holes to fill. PLEASE JIMMY FIRE THEM ALL, it's all I ask for Christmas.

You're entitled to you opinion, but frankly, you're full of shit and here's why. 1) You calling Mingo a bust? 2) enlighten me as to who the Browns cut that's having a Pro Bowl season. FYI they dumped super bust Richardson and got at least 30 cents on the dollar over it. BTW, Whittaker and McGahee are averaging about the same ypc than our departed super stud, Baker is a practice squad player so STFU about the lack of rushing. It might help if the Browns guards didn't suck.
LOL, so tell me, who just won the AFC North? by your standards, Marvin Lewis should have been fired multiple times- and you got your wish when Artie fired HOFer Bill Belichick prematurely.
nope I'm the one and only and I'm fed up with the bullshit they keep running out on the field. Everyone looking through beer goggles keeps hitting the replay button oh just give em a chance to get their players in here. They had their chance and blew every opportunity. Andy Reid took a two win team and is in the playoffs this year. Open your fukcing eyes people it can be done in one offseason. How many 4 win seasons do you people want to go through?
Don't bring up the Chiefs either- they already had a studly defense in place- 4 Pro Bowlers, and ummmm they've had exactly ONE quarterback this year, care to tell me how many the Browns have gone through? You blaming Wee-done on Haslam too? Incidentally, the Browns may well have beaten the Chiefs in KC no less- if Bess hadn't been lighting up fatties before the game. Gee, I suppose nothing less than 100% success rate on free agents is going to keep you happy.
anything less than 10 wins is unacceptable
Sure, keep dreaming- or find another team, the Broncos and Seahawks are accepting frontrunners. so assuming you were a Texans or Falcons fan, you going to kill yourself? I'm sure tons of their fans said anything less than 10 wins is unacceptable. They were all set up for a Super Bowl run, didn't exactly happen, no? Lions were set up for the playoffs, that isn't happening either.
FYI Chud is the best coach the Browns have had in the expansion era, and you'd have to go back to Marty or Rutigliano to find an equal- and FYI- I go all the way back to Paul Brown. You can only coach the hand you're dealt. There's been one constant since 1999 for the Browns- Blowing everything up every 2-3 years. This time, I'm sticking with the program.

yeah i agree, as much as i hate what i've seen from this so-called all-star brilliant coaching staff.
you gotta give them more than one year to prove themselves.
players are adjusting to new schemes, coaches are looking at players as to whether or not they can fit in their scheme etc. etc.
but even saying that, there was nothing impressive coming from the sidelines this year. nothing. and as far as horton is concerned, he might as well kiss that hope of a HC position goodbye, at least until he proves he and his system can work under chud in cleveland.
and where did norv go? was he even around?

With Horton people need to stop talking about top ten defense based on pas or rushing yards allowed. Those stats are meaningless, the defensive stat that matters is points allowed per game, and it has to be less than the offenses points scored per game. When that happens we can talk about how great the D is.

Yeah, that Bobby Rainey with his 500 yards is really better that Obi-wan, who with an equal number of attempts would have more yards? Incidentally Rainey had 13 carries for 34 yards when the Browns cut him. Not exactly setting the league on fire.
Rainey 126 497 3.9
Obi 49 240 4.9
Damn I sure wish we had kept Rainey- got anyone else I can look up?
Incidentally, you want to respond direct just hit the quote or multi quote button.
BTW, what the Browns really need to do is figure out how to close out the first half and the end of games- that's the area of improvement- they've proven they can hang with anyone- they need to learn how to close out games.
