Apparently Browns “not enamored” with any of the top QBs

what i do not understand is this why would Dorsey say that he would be willing to trade the first overall pick I mean i can see the 4th but not the 1st

I think it is just a never say never about anything situation.   If someone came knocking hard for any of the Browns picks...it behooves them to listen...even if they ultimately say no:

Always have your ears open. I would think every team is willing to hear about their picks. No fault in listening.

Eli is going to be 37, I think. So, look to the Giants to draft a qb to develop. Geno Smith is behind him,

and ...well, that isn't going to happen with Gino.

The Giants are a win now franchise and need all kinds of help. Beckam will evidently not be in camp. They are just about guaranteed 2 starters staying put and not trading down.

As I was saying 🙂 Trade down out of #2 to #5 or #6, and get three starters for the price of two.  Barkley + their second round pick isn't turning them into a "win now" team. 9-7 at best and eke into the playoffs if it all goes perfect? OK. Super Bowl contender? LOL!!!

PS- take a look at the Giants 2018 opponents and tell me you see a winning record playing the Saints, Jags, Eagles twice, Falcons and Panthers. Split with the Cowboys and Redskins- that's 8 losses right there.

You draft Barkley at # 1

Then the QB of the future at # 4

I see what you're saying, but if you're the BROWNS of ALL the teams in the league, you simply can't take a chance on not getting the QB you have rated the highest.  There's simply no excuse, when you have the #1 and the #4 picks, NOT to draft the guy you have ranked ahead of everybody.  We're the Browns, the team above all others that have been absolutely TORTURED by the QB position, and now we have the #1 pick, a chance to take whoever we want, and we need to grab the guy we like the best.

Think about what happens if we take Saquon first overall.  That leaves two picks before our #4.  Two chances for other teams to either draft the QB we like the best or make an insane trade with a team who wants to move up to draft one.  Does Saquon look like a crazy-awesome prospect?  Would he immediately help us score points?  Heck yes, but NOTHING matters until you get the QB position right, and NO team knows that more than the Browns!  We can pick whichever QB we want, and nothing can change that.  We have the first pick and we literally get to select who we WANT.  We don't get cute, we don't try to maximize our draft capital and trade down, we don't draft a RB #1, and if Saquon is available at #4, then we look at drafting him, but if it's me, I take Minkah Fitzpatrick all day.  Look at the RB's who were drafted after the first round last year and still did great.  Kareem Hunt?  Kamara?  Dorsey will find our stud RB in the 2nd or 3rd round, he's done it before.

Baker Mayfield should be drafted #1, and the ONLY other guy I'd be ok with is Rosen.  Oh, and if we draft Josh Allen, I will comb the planet to find an experimental "Total Recall" procedure and have the doctor implant memories of me being a Patriots fan because Allen looks like a complete JOKE to me.  He's Paxton Lynch 2.0, and I have NO IDEA why he's getting a pass on his horrible accuracy and terrible numbers.

With RB's like Guice, Michel, Penny... I'd rather get the QB #1 and Fitzpatrick #4. If they don't take a QB #1, some other team can trade up like last year and take the QB the Browns might've been planning on being there at #4.

Yeah, Barkley can return kickoffs and so can Penny. Penny set the NCAA record. I don't think either will be doing that in the NFL much if they're the bell cow.

Shmuck draft status what the hell doe's that even mean (except from a paycheck) i'm Shmucking talking about how a franchise views you how you are set up to succeed as a 1st round qb draft pick and you sure as hell do not start off the process saying that you are not enamored with or will be listening to offers for the 1st pick

If a kid’s psyche can’t handle predraft talk (that happens every year) and needs to be constantly reassured  then playing professional sports may not be for them. Everyone of those kids has an agent who I am sure is giving them the rundown of how it goes. It is a business.

I was inferring that the kid taken at one will be cut so deeply by pre-draft banter that they may have to resort to dabbing their watery eyes with 100 dollar bills.

Woofing down animal based protein is what got our brains to where they are today.

  • Just had a story pop up on my phone that said Dorsey is open to trading the #1 pick. I will literally throw my own butt into a mental hospital if this happens. I could care LESS about getting more picks. What I DO care about is getting our favorite QB, and if we trade, we give other teams THREE chances to take our guy. Yeah, everyone is talking about Saquon Barkley, but let me remind everyone that when it comes time to making early picks, more teams trade up for QBs than running backs. Nobody is likely to mortgage a bunch of picks to move up to #1 for Saquon. What's that mean? That means a QB is going #1 if we trade down. Then there's the #2 pick, and the Giants already said they'd trade down too. Even if they don't, they could easily take a QB as Eli's replacement. That's two possible QBs. Then you have the Colts. I doubt they take a QB, but does anyone truly know what the hell is going on with Luck's shoulder? They could draft a QB or trade back with someone like the Broncos who want a QB. That's THREE potential chances for the Cleveland Browns to lose out on QBs. And for what? To get more picks? Yeah, because that's worked out SOOOOOOOO good for us!

Maybe John Dorsey is full of crap. Perhaps he's just posturing in the media. But if you have the #1 pick, YOU DON'T HAVE TO. I'm serious, we trade down and I'll need some strong medication. I already know we're going to with one of our early ones, I feel it. The 1 and 4 are simply too much capital for one GM to play with, and we all know how those turds just HAVE to prove how smart they are, right? It's still early, but we're now in March and things are picking up quickly. You know what would make me feel better? That in about a month or so, John Dorsey announces who the Browns are drafting #1. Remember when that used to happen every once in a while? I could be crazy, but I want to say that occasionally a team announced who they were taking #1. I'd love to hear Dorsey say, "We're taking Baker Mayfield #1, and there's nothing you can do about it. Now, if you want to talk about trading for the #4, you can call me any time, but Baker is already being fit for his Cleveland Browns jersey, so read'em and weep."

  • Smoke screen. He's just on a fishing expedition. Now if someone wanted to trade out a starting QB plus their #1 pick or more, then it might be worth listening to if that QB is really what we need.
