Good I want him on the field that way if we beat them, they can't say well Polly was not on the field, if he was there you would not have won! I want to beat their best not their worst, will take the win without him there but prefer it with him there

Time to boot up -about 2 hours ago from web @ytownbrownsbacker said:...Hopefully Mangini is screwing with the Vikings and some of these guys will be full go. I'm betting he is. Other than Davis, there are no new injuries and the practices indicate guys are leaning towards healthier (Rogers and Harrison went some live, etc.), not worse.

@sez.ej said:I know the process. but teams higher than us have been signing guys. I see that we are now doing some things.. .. pretty much a waste other than pearman.. I like that move. We know have signed 4 guys, is that quick enough? Patience my friend, I don't think they are done yet.

@ytownbrownsbacker said:Just some random thoughts about some bubble guys. I think a few guys sealed their fate tonight......................Norwood is toast. Bell didn't do himself any favors and should have a few sleepless nights. They got to be looking at the waiver wire because that whole backup OL looked like shit. Sowells got to be gone, he sucked big time. The only one I give a chance to is Quarterman. Could Costanza make it on his special teams play. He isn't much at LB but he can play some special teams? Jennings could have landed a practice squad position along with Lawson. I think Patton may have pushed Hubbard and Leggett off the squad. We are deep at WR. We still need another safety and tackle. DL is deep but what does it say about Cory Williams when logged so much playing time tonight. Veikune, Maiava and Leon williams all playing ahead of Bell. Sorenson and Poteat may have made the team by default. We're that thin at DB. Rucker did well for himself could be enough to hold off Walker. I saw Rucker on special teams which is a good sign. He isn't making the team as the 3rd TE if he can't play special teams. Would have liked to see some more of Titus Brown. Can they afford to keep Ali? Two FBs is a hard sell because it makes you go thin at another position. I see them picking a couple of guys off of waivers so about 24 could be let go. A few will be added back to the practice squad but that's a lot of guy who played tonight not feeling real well. I will dispute that statement. but i could be proven wrong.

@ytownbrownsbacker said:I'd take less for Anderson, but he or Quinn will be out after this year. No way they sit here next year and eat both their salaries. I've been a Steinbach supporter but he isn't a good fit for what Mangini wants to do. He is more of a Denver Bronco's zone blocking OL. Good guy, in wrong system and vastly overpaid. They may have to release him. Williams is a square peg in a round hole. Just not a fit in this system. If you saw him play as a one gap DT, you'd agree. Another vastly overpaid guy who will be a backup this year. Well not really a backup, he will be in the rotation at DE. I to would like to see him be more productive but he will never perform in a 3-4 like he can in a 4-3. So, I think he is traded. Rogers and Thomas are worth every cent, I just noted them to show how tight the team is in money vs the cap. Savage overpaid to get some of these guys and it is killing Mangini. He doesn't have the money to bring in additional players who may come available. Williams has about 4 games to play in reg season before he becomes"available" on the block. I hope he can nail the 3-4 DE position!

@ytownbrownsbacker said:Seems like most think it's Hubbard or Leggett. IMO Leggett has had a great camp and may have passed Hubbard. I would think it is pretty much a toss up. I don't get the love for Bell. I know he is a hard hitter at the point of attack, but he is lost in space and runs himself out of plays. If he is kept it will be because of special teams not his LB play. He clearly has been outplayed by Maiava, Veikune and even Williams at LB. If it's based on special teams only, Blake Constanza is a beast, but not much of a LB. I think the OL cuts will be based around Tucker. I really don't know if he is hurt or if he just doesn't want to play. I don't think this is the coaching staff that is going to beg him to stay and play. Without him they need tackle backup and the only tackle backup I see is Steinbach and maybe Womack, but that disrupts the entire line. So, maybe Sowells make it unless they find a waiver guy when other teams cut. Personally, I don't see any of the mentioned players as guys that will help this team now. so, I keep the younger players with upside. So I would look more toward keeping guys like Lockett or Lawson over Poteat or Sorenson. I like Leggett and Hubbard over a David Patton. I like Quarterman over an aging Fraley or Weary. But Bell.................I just don't think he is athletic enough. there's more to bing a ILB in the 3-4 then being able to hit someone. first you have to be in position to hit someone. Besides we drafted two rookies that have outplayed him at LB and on special teams. I certainly wouldn't give up on Rucker but he was clearly outplayed by Walker this camp. I'd have to look at Heiden and make sure he can get back to 100% and maintain his health for more then just a few games. Can this team count on Heiden to stay relatively healthy and be productive. I guess the same question has to be asked about Tucker. I will be an interesting week.

We just got word this afternoon through our friends at the OBR that there will be 3 mini camp practices (5/21, 5/27 and 5/28 where the media will be allowed to view practice and Mangini and staff will be available for interviews. They also will open up two OTAs before the official mini camp on June 11th. Fort Berea is letting down the draw bridge. They won't be open to the public though, just media. I'm just hoping I can still get some credentials.

@solon16 said:Love the dudes motor and instincts....WAY to many missed tackles...no wraping up at all. He has really good sideline to sideline speed. If he can learn how to tackle he'll be great.

Saorry but I never considered Stallworth to be any value to this team, did or does any Browns fan really think this punk was going to ever contribute? We have had a problem at WR since JJ and K2 went down.

Eisen on NFL Network giving Mayock "props for telling us Cutler was the best QB in the '06 draft". I don't recall, but apparently he's getting credit for nailing those QB's. 1 Houston Mario Williams - DE 2 New Orleans Reggie Bush - RB 3 Tennessee Vince Young - QB 4 New York D'Brickashaw Ferguson - OT 5 Green Bay A.J. Hawk - LB 6 San Francisco Vernon Davis - TE 7 Oakland Michael Huff 8 Buffalo Donte' Whitner 9 Detroit Ernie Sims - LB 10 Arizona Matt Leinart - QB 11 Denver Jay Cutler - QB We'll see how he does this year.

I would trade Edwards to the Giants or Philly or anybody outside our division for their first round draft pick. He can't catch the stupid football with consistency. But he will probably start doing it somewhere else... (*&^%%

I am sick of the hometown bounce. Its Like affirmative action. Why don't we just get the best person for the job!

@inspecta said:I'm really hoping Holly can come back and contribute this year, I was really dissapointed that he got hurt last year, i think the kid has the potential to be a really good corner in this league. Somebody posted a thread bashing him a while back and I couldn't disagree more with that assesment. Kid has good instincts and is very physical at the line, his shortcomings are things that can be "coached up" I agree and he is the only corner that can move inside and cover a slot receiver. McDonald gets lost inside.

@solon16 said:Just read he went back to Atlanta after the St. louis visit and just Didn't come here..... As the guys at Rotoworld suggested, he may still be considering the Rams' offer. He could also be hoping to get a call from Philly, who just lost Brian Dawkins and run a similar scheme to the one he played in with the Giants.

Aloysius said:That's funny; my impression was that he didn't throw well, but impressed teams during the interviews. Here are two reports from his workout: And McShay says here that Stafford is the better athlete, but Sanchez did well for himself during the interviews. Said he has that "it" factor. Those interviews will do him a lot of good, but those physical limitations could limit any potential draft stock surge. I agree, I was going to post a similar thought but I figured I'd give my football acumen a chance to heal after my Cassell screw-up In the post/ corner drills it looked like a lot of Sanchez's balls were a bit floaty once he went over 25 yds. I haven't exactly been glued to the combine, but from what I saw of the QB's, Pat White looked like he was throwing the best ball.

Laurinitis is not having a great combine. He's a mid second half of the first round, I think. Or later, who knows. Whatever lb we draft, has to be the kind of guy who can dominate - get his job done excellently. With Curry gone, and Jenkins not running a bigtime 40... I really think I'd draft Raji, let him play DE. Raji is going to be a star. He can play NT for the Browns later, when Rodgers is a FA and bolts elsewhere. Or Orakpo. Orakpo or Raji. I think it's narrowed down to that if Curry is gone. Of course, were it not for Raji, I would draft the best ORT/LT just because I want two all pro bookends on the oline, and a guy who could flip over to the LT spot in case Joe Thomas gets dinged, GOD FORBID No way Rey goes in the top ten now. Fergit about it.

Pavlik was overmatched by size and speed against Hopkins. He won't be moving up in weight again any time soon. But to say Rubio was a filler fight is a little wrong to me. He was the number one contender, and Pavlik needed to defend his title. Calzaghe blatently ducked Pavlik by retiring and that's exactly when Jack Loew called him out. Calzaghe still shows no interest. If you want to talk filler fight, you'd make a better case with Lockett. And even he was a WBO mandatory title defense. In short, it's not Pavlik's fault there's not a ton of people to box. Arthur Abraham may be next and he may be a big test. Pavlik is certainly limited. He's seen as a God around the Ytown parts, it's crazy how he's like the savior here. But in the general boxing world, a lot of people see him as a plain straight ahead jab jab power puncher without much else working for him and he's benefiting from a particularly weak division. Not the way I see it necessarily, but that's the way a ton of people see it especially after the Hopkins fight.

@jewdago said:harvin's an interesting option. somehow, i think five is too high for him, but have no idea why, and i like him more than crabtree. possibly i think five is high because he's not a polished prospect. did he run routes in florida's offense? all i remember seeing him do is get the ball out of the backfield or on screens. the only time i really remember seeing him run a route is when he went deep. it's not to say that he won't run great routes, just that he hasn't. however, his speed and strength are a ridiculous combination and cannot be ignored. there are a lot of mid to late first round guys this year that i'd like to have a lot more than the guys who are at the so-called 'top' of the draft, like rashad jennings, larry english and percy harvin, especially english or harvin. Yes, he lined up outside or was put in motion outside....he ran routes and can run routes. Don't think the Fla offense is some goofy O with no rhyme or reason...people need to be in places...they don't just run around wherever they want to even if it seems that way to the casual onlooker. I have watched a lot of Gator football....on TV and in person as a season ticket holder....it may not be the conventional O your dad watched, but it is every bit as precise. Tebow isn't outlining plays in the palm of his hand while in the huddle. But he could!

We hardly ever used Wimbley as anything but a simple pass rusher. Our stupid system didn't allow us to try and move him around. One hand down outside rush....that was it. When did ok dropping into coverage so why not move him around more to confuse the offense. He has ability. We didn't even try to get more out of him. I'm not saying he can or will be turned into an awesome OLB but I'm not saying he won't either. We need a more sophisticated system. (like balt.)
